Premier Colin Barnett has today announced George Michael to be the first act to play at Perth Arena.
The arena will officially open on the 2nd of November marked by a free concert and charity day that will be held on the 4th.
Mr Barnett said while its appearance has been the subject of debate within the community, he believed critics would be won over once the arena was completed.
"The project has taken longer than we hoped, and it has cost a lot more, but I think the end result will ultimately justify that," he said.
"It is a spectacular building."
Michael and his Symphonica Australia tour will play on the 10th of November.

Mr Barnett said he expected the $550 million, 14,000-seat arena to be at capacity when Michael takes to the stage on November 10.
